Tracie Harrah

Founder • Recipe Developer • Wellness Advocate • Market Trailblazer

Tracie Harrah is the creative force and visionary behind Under the Green Umbrella, where tradition meets innovation in every handcrafted product she brings to market. A lifelong food artisan, Tracie is a seasoned entrepreneur, marketing specialist, and professional recipe developer with two decades of experience creating original, nutrient-rich, gut-healing recipes from scratch.

Guided by a deep understanding of nutrition science and a strong ancestral lineage of Appalachian foodways, Tracie blends modern wellness with old-world methods—fermentation, foraging, preserving, and slow crafting. Her products reflect not just professional expertise but generations of inherited knowledge, transforming farm-grown ingredients into vibrant, healing foods that nourish body and soul.

Tracie’s work is rooted in purpose: to feed and educate her community through recipes that honor heritage, promote health, and celebrate creativity. She is a trailblazer at the market, continually pushing boundaries with inspired flavor profiles, artisanal methods, and a passion for quality that is evident in every taste.

Over the years, Tracie has mentored dozens of college students who have worked alongside her, learning the art and science of recipe creation, small business operations, and sustainable food production. Her kitchen and farm have served as a hands-on classroom where students are empowered to explore creativity, develop professional skills, and gain real-world experience under her guidance. Many of her mentees have gone on to pursue careers in food systems, nutrition, and entrepreneurship, inspired by her passionate, purpose-driven leadership.

As a certified Virginia Master Gardener, Tracie brings deep expertise in sustainable agriculture and regenerative growing practices. She grows much of what she uses, from heirloom herbs to seasonal produce, grounding her recipes in the rhythms of the land. Her farm-to-table approach is both intuitive and intentional—each product is a reflection of what’s in season, what’s healing, and what honors the earth. This living connection to the soil infuses her work with freshness, depth, and a reverence for the full cycle of food.
